Confirmed from Bredesen Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Bredesen Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (255 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“Trails are exceptional and scenery is gorgeous.”

🏃 great for running 2 mentions

“Great park for it's walking and running trails although nothing in the way of playgrounds or picnic tables.”

🐕 dog-walking favorite 3 mentions

“My dog loves it, nice to take kids on walks, other people I pass by are always very sweet.”

A lovely park for walking and seeing wildlife. Lots of birds and a beaver or two if you’re lucky. Some paths are paved but not all of them. There are different options along the path, so you can make your walk as short or as long as you like.

★★★★★ — Maddie , Apr 2023

Bedesen Park is a nice place for a walk any time of the year. It can be especially nice on a windy day as you are decently protected by the trees. Potential wildlife spottings include turtles, ducks, muskrat, geese, owls, squirrels and deer.

★★★★★ — Josh , Jun 2019

If you take the nature trail, which runs through the interior of the park, you'd be challenged to know you're in the heart of the city. Lovely and peaceful.

★★★★☆ — Sandra , Aug 2022

Bredesen has some nice trails in the woods. I like that it goes in a circle, so you don't have to pay too much attention to where you're going. The circular walk is about 3 miles, I think. You can also bike.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadrestrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
