Confirmed from Broad Run Valley Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Kid-friendly hiking area known for biking.
What runners say about Broad Run Valley Trailhead
“Beautiful in every season, and coming into my favorite with spring, it is looking as if its going to be another great year here at this park.”
Absolutely recommend this part of the Parklands! After you hike up the Louisville Loop for a bit you get an access to some nice trails - Lime Gorge, the gardens and also the Highlands trail further down. I spent almost 3 hrs hiking there and fully enjoyed it. A lot of wildlife!
We bike through here quite often. Most of the time, you can find something small that makes you smile. Like this colorful flower. I love looking at wildflowers, and you can always find them at Broad Run! Love the entire park system here.
Oddly enough, I wasn't going for a hike. It was a rescue. Some of my family went kayaking. took two vehicles, one at the end point and the other at the start. Ended up leaving the keys for the car at the end in the car at the start....
We went for a run starting at the overlook and running to the silo and back. Beautiful early spring run on nice paved trails with some character building hills.

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
