Confirmed from Boone Bottoms Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiking area with kid-friendly options featuring trails along a creek.
What runners say about Boone Bottoms Trail
“An excellent hike in the snow - level, short, beautiful”
“Boone Bottoms Trail is a great family trail and is an easy trail.”
Took this hike with my family. We, the parents, are overweight and we have a 3 year old so we wanted something easy where we could get out and take in some nature without being too challenged or getting into trouble.
Easy unpaved loop trail. Not a ton of elevation changes. Nice view throughout.
Boone Bottoms Trail is a great family trail and is an easy trail. Very flat with just a few humps to walk over throughout the trail. Once you reach the Floyd's Fork, there are several places you can walk right down to the water. Some places are a little harder to get to the water and others are very easy.
This trail throws you smack dab in the middle of nature. I took my 3 year old son and 2 dogs. It was easy for all to walk. There is easy access to the water, if you want to get close to that. The trail has a few obstacles but none were difficult for the 4 of us. Just make sure to wear good shoes. It was a lovely walk.

The practical stuff
- AccessDawn to dusk — the gates close, so do not plan a run that finishes after dark
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
