We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Browns Valley Open Space Preserve yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Great place to go (right in town!) for a short hike. Nice views all the way across the Central Valley on clear days, and plenty of wildflowers in the springtime. Open for dogs; note that there are cattle roaming freely.

I love the mountain walk. It is so beautiful in the green of spring... mama cows with their calves share your landscape. Amazing old oak trees. Wild flowers. I love that vacaville sets aside these areas and you can walk/ hike there. Is not for the tender, injured...

★★★★★ — Deborah , Apr 2019

Lovely open area for walking, running, picnicing and bouldering. There are cows roaming freely and swings to swing on. There are some nice steep areas that make it feel like a nice workout. Lots of different paths to take too. I was surprised by how nice of a workout it was!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
