Confirmed from Buena Vista Trailhead - Moderate-Loop's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Scenic trail, part of a large, dog-friendly wooded area also used for logging.
What runners say about Buena Vista Trailhead - Moderate-Loop
“Not much elevation change but quite scenic.”
Such a huge area of trails. We drove down joe tank rd about a mile then hiked around there. Absolutely no one. Beautiful breeze cool weather. We are from the valley so we took a week trip up to cooler temps to get way from the 112° weather.
Great place to hike. Lots of trees and open ranges. Fire road has many ruts in certain places.
Trail was nice for a little nature walk. We went around Loop 1. It's about 3 1/2 miles, loop 2 is A LOT longer so if you are looking for longer this has both! It says no motor vehicles but we had a truck come through. Wasnt busy with people and has a QR code to download the map.
It's a great place to hike... plenty of parking...lots of trees... occasionally you run into some horses and cows..

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
