Confirmed from Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (1,515 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 13 mentions

“on top of the natural beauty, I was very struck by how clean the grounds and bathrooms were — supplies were always well-stocked.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 11 mentions

“Fool Hollow Lake Recreation Area is a beautiful spot and definitely worth visiting, even if the fish are not biting.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 3 mentions

“The lake itself is peaceful and scenic, with pretty views, fresh air, and plenty of space to relax and enjoy the outdoors.”

Beautiful campground, nice bathroom and shower facilities, but it was really cold in there and the shower heads need to be replaced, the water went everywhere and it really stung my skin due to the force I guess. Lots of workers keeping the place pristine. Large campsites and nice walking trails.

The Lake is beautiful and the RV/campground is nice. The sites are large and groomed. However some are 2 in 1 sites. This is great for friends but when two strangers are parked on top of one another it feels cramped. We were lucky and had a nice young family next to us.

Nice camp area we were in the Cinnamon Teal loop. Our only concern was it would be nice to make more clear at reservation that some of the sites are "Buddy" sites as our site neighbors were smokers and that made it difficult to open windows. Besides that, the area is well kept and the staff is very friendly.

This state park is probably the most beautiful state run rv park in Az. Large rv spots, tall pine trees, lake allows swimming and boating up to 10hp motors. Park is clean and just minutes from show low. And about 20 mins or so to the Casino in Pine Top.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
