Confirmed from Burt Aaronson South County Regional Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

well-maintained 4 mentions

“It’s well kept, if I bump into anyone there (rarely), they’re always so kind with the most amazing dogs.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 3 mentions

“I go there when I want a quiet place to clear my head and connect with God but I stay for the absolutely beautiful sunset views.”

Love this park! It is huge and there are so many places to explore. I come here all the time to walk with my husband and dog. The dog park is a plus. I really enjoy the scenery around the lakes. It’s a great place to come to relax, have a picnic/bbq or get some exercise!

Love this Park. There is a little bit of everything here from a kids small water park to a golf course. Make sure you check out the hidden paths that lead to observing towers.

★★★★★ — Kevin , Apr 2019

Nice big park with a dog area, swimming pools, golf, baseball, soccer, amphitheatre, and trails.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🐕 Dog-friendly 14 mentions

“There are bicycle lanes, a dog park, a water park, a large playground, an amphitheater, plenty of fishing spots and more.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceBoardwalk — flat and scenic, and slick when wet, so watch your footing
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
