Confirmed from Butler-Freeport Community Trail Dittmer Road Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Butler-Freeport Community Trail Dittmer Road Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (29 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“The trail is most beautiful if you start at the trailhead at Jones Road or by the Sheetz on Route 356, where you would turn left and drive down into the trailhead.”

A very rewarding bike trail. Mostly very rural, the trail follows a creek bed to limit the grade. Being in the creek valley limits your long view but the creek has great natural beauty and lots of birds (and bird song). There may not be enough parking.

The trail is most beautiful if you start at the trailhead at Jones Road or by the Sheetz on Route 356, where you would turn left and drive down into the trailhead. This part of the trail has the beautiful Bear Creek Running along the lside of it.

★★★★★ — Sheree , Mar 2021

A beautiful trail surfaced with pea gravel. Perfect for running, walking or biking. This trail head has a pavilion and a store at it. The store has a food, drinks and snacks. A perfect location for a mid walk picnic.

★★★★★ — Jeromee , Sep 2019

The Derailleur Bike Shop Cafe is located here. This is a hidden jem. It's a wonderful place to get a healthy drink or snacks when hiking/biking on the trail,

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
