Confirmed from Cable Line Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Trail for workouts with elevation gain in a location that doesn't require a pass.
What runners say about Cable Line Trailhead
“Whole trail is rough (except 1/4 mile straight path) with lot of spots quiet slippery.”
You know, often times we take for granted things that are easily accessible. Right there, never too far out of reach. We train and train in the spring; lofty summer goals set upon distant and exotic summits.
This is one of the challenging hikes with nearly 2000 ft gain in just ~2 miles. It’s straight up to the mountain, highly elevated. Whole trail is rough (except 1/4 mile straight path) with lot of spots quiet slippery. I wouldn’t recommend without hiking sticks and shoe with good grip.
You gain elevation very quick. A difficult trail to do hence many people avoid it. But saw few kids even doing it. Did the West tiger #1,#2,#3. Very panaromic view from west tiger#2. There were many people in tiger#3, which comes first but few go to #2 and #1. Weather was good and could see many mountains in full 360°.
Very beautiful trail. Majority of the trail is in shade which is very nice. Definitely on an incline though so be ready for that. Super fun. Loved it.
Trail conditions & character

“Note: Cable line trail does not start from West Tiger 3 parking lot.”
“Slippery when dry with gravel, muddy if rained.”
“Whole trail is rough (except 1/4 mile straight path) with lot of spots quiet slippery.”
“This review is for the West Tiger Peak #1 #2 and #3 loop that starts at Cable Line.”
“Something for everyone's fitness level and plenty of friendly people and dogs along the way 🐾”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
- Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
