Confirmed from Canal Lands Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Canal Lands Park
“Very peaceful walking down by the river.”
“We took our dogs there because I walk with a cane, and I like how flat the trail is.”
Very nice walking trails and bike trails! Very peaceful walking down by the river. There are a few benches along the path in case you would like to take a break, maybe one every mile. I just did the 6 mile walk from route 82 to route 800, so not sure how the rest of the trail is. Pretty cool scenery....
A good stop along the towpath trail, much better than the state route 800 trailhead. The parking is spacious and nice, and has a small port-a-potty for restrooms.
Great trails for enjoying nature often see deer and many squirrels and chipmunks due to the abundance of black walnuts and others. The nuts on the trails can be a hazard if running or biking so be careful and slow down in those areas.
By far, the best section of the towpath there is. Its a little rough, but that is what makes it fun. The canal locks and restored bridges keep things interesting. Not much trail traffic to contend with. Been riding here for years, and they keep improving the trail all the time.
