Confirmed from Carolina Thread Trail - Twelve Mile Creek Trail Head's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Carolina Thread Trail - Twelve Mile Creek Trail Head

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (138 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

👟 good for all levels 3 mentions

“Pretty good trails met people of all ages on it so it shows everyone is doing it!”

Visiting from Michigan and wanted to do a little hiking. The suspension bridge trail looked promising. After reading the other reviews, we opted to start at Nesbit Park. The trailhead starts back behind the public bathroom/snack shack building, at the end of the gravel road.

★★★★☆ — Christine , Oct 2021

About 4 miles total from end to end. The east entrance is down a gravel driveway at the end of Nesbit Park, and the west entrance is at the northernmost sports field in Walnut Creek Park. Hilly, rocky challenging terrain, with nice views of the river.

★★★★★ — Joshua , Jun 2021

The thread trail is a great little day hike, we came in from the Lancaster side and trail is mostly dirt, the creek was high from rain, I never did reach the bridge ,but this part of the greenway has winding trails and great views of flowers.

★★★★★ — Nancy , Aug 2020

Great trail! We only were able to do a small part of it, but the part we did was great especially the swinging bridge. We look forward to eventually hiking the entire trail.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
