Confirmed from Cate Square Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Public park with swings, slides, and other play equipment, plus picnic tables.
What runners say about Cate Square Park
“Nice enough place, the other people there seem to watch out for others and respectful, looks clean and picked up.”
“Thank you city of Hammond, thank you for preserving a beautiful space for the community to enjoy.”
Great park! We try to bring the kiddos as often as we can. We went and they were having a cool vendors thingy. Also had a band that played all kinds of music. It was very nice. The park has lots for the kids to play on and keep them busy. There is also these lil puzzle signs and games. My kids love them!
I’ve passed this cute lil place several times & noticed the gazebo & decided to go check it out - well I ended up parking & walking to the gazebo & noticed there was a walking trace area - went for a 37 minute walk - it was nice , relaxing , I felt very safe , there’s great statues , monuments & more .
It's a smaller park but it's makes up for it with how nice it is. A city block packed with a great jungle gym, a set of swings, a path for walking, picnic tables, bench swings, and a field of grass with a gazebo.
This park is beautiful! Very peaceful and child friendly with a huge gated play area. A few picnic tables to grab a nice lunch break. Plenty of ungated grassy space for blanket picnics, or tossing a ball around. Just wish they had a gated playground area for my dog to run and exercise since Hammond has a leash law.
Trail conditions & character

“Although I was not visiting the park, I did utilize the ample parking it provides to visit a nearby restaurant.”

- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
