Confirmed from Cattail Marsh Scenic Wetlands & Boardwalk's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
900-acre wildlife refuge boasting 8+ miles of trails, many bird species & scenic wetland boardwalks.
What runners say about Cattail Marsh Scenic Wetlands & Boardwalk
“Super clean and beautiful area first time going and got lucky to see 2 baby gators and a big one in the water”
“In general it's a nice peaceful spot, with a type of vegetation that was new for me, and lots of birds, and you can even spot turtles and gators.”
This is such a cute little area to go for your next hike! There's so much wildlife to see! There's signs up on the dock about the different birds you can encounter on the trail or see near the water. The signs explain how to identify the birds by color, sound, and size. This would be a wonderful spot to birdwatch!
Cattail Marsh Scenic Wetlands in Beaumont, Texas, is a breathtaking spot known for its stunning scenery. The glassy water reflects the sky and surrounding greenery, creating a tranquil atmosphere. Bird lovers will be delighted by the variety of species, as the wetlands are home to over 250 types of birds.
It is so beautiful here. We saw a couple of alligators right along the walking path, sunning themselves and tons of ducks swimming and playing in the water. Well worth a visit to spend the day/mid morning. It is free, has plenty of parking and there are restrooms near by. A great way to spend time with the family.
Cattail Marsh is a beautiful park with multiple facilities. There are the gardens, golfing, an equestrian center, pavilions that can be reserved, and the bountiful wetlands. I walked over 3 miles, and that was just one side of the marshlands. Respect the signs because there are gators in those waters.
Trail conditions & character
“Going over the boardwalk into the center of the marsh also gives you a nice view, it's just not really pleasant to be in the small center gazebo with another group of people.”
