Confirmed from Cedar River Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Cedar River Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (721 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 3 mentions

“It's very clean, safe, and the people are polite, with children, parents, couples, seniors, and people who go fishing in the lake.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“Nice park along the cedar river and a beautiful trail to the washington lake”

It's a nice trail. I come here sometimes to do the Parkrun. It's a free, timed 5k every Saturday at 9:00. I'm not even getting chased by a Sasquatch. This morning I was pleased to see a couple of Renton police officers walking the trail. They are out there keeping people safe while they use the park.

★★★★☆ — Tad , Jul 2025

Nice park along the Cedar River with a long paved trail along the river.

★★★★★ — Stephen , Nov 2023

I took my dog for a walk on the Cedar River Trail. We stopped at the dog park. Ultimately we spent almost two hours there. I was very happy with the experience and I think my dog was ecstatic with the experience! It's a very nice completely fenced in area.

★★★★★ — Jim , Jul 2018

Cedar River Park in Renton is a park worth walking through frequently, enjoying the different trees, paths through the grass, places to share benches and rest, and finally, the beautiful Long Washington.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🐕 Dog-friendly 8 mentions

“Great place for my dog to swim and run around in the field afterwards to dry off.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
