Confirmed from Chapman Mountain Nature Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Multi use track in the Land Trust collection of properties. The trails may be too short for hardcore hikers, but the diversity of the foliage, the great pavilion and other activities (disk golf) make it an attractive spot for the entire family. Water feature with blind for bird photos is up and running.

Great trails ... lots of distant road noise but absolutely beautiful and close to my house

★★★★★ — Wes , Apr 2025

This is a wonderful little preserve on the north side of Huntsville. It's also about 10 minutes from my house so it's close enough for me to train here for longer hikes. I generally will loop the bulldog Trail and the Terry Trail to get extra mileage.

★★★★★ — Josh , May 2025

Chasco Trail (0.5 mi loop) is a gorgeous, serene trek perfect for a lunch break wander to clear the mind. I'm looking forward to exploring other trails at this location on future trips.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
