Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

This place is absolutely gorgeous! We went with our 3 year old and 1 year old and because I thought I had seen a review that said it was *mostly* stroller friendly, we brought the stroller. It is not stroller friendly! I repeat: NOT stroller friendly!

Beautiful public park. The waterfall actually had water since it has been raining so much. It has rained all week, but the trails were not muddy. The gravel trails held up great.

Great place to hike year round. Specially on Friday 1/30/2026, as after a recent 10-12" snow fall, the Park District had cleared the trail of snow. The waterfalls were frozen but still beautiful. A very enjoyable place to hike through the woodlands. Preserve is well maintained and trails marked well.

What a gem!!! My husband and son surprised me with a Mother's Day hike here. It doesn't look like it's going to be much by the basic parking lot, simple restroom, and minimal signage...but it was a "real" hike with a beautiful waterfall. Lots of hidden extras along the way, too.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
