Confirmed from Clay Island Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Clay Island Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (74 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 7 mentions

“Beautiful Beautiful side of Florida that people rarely get to see.”

🌳 shaded & cool 3 mentions

“6 miles, 3 hours, with plenty of stops for pics and rest, sometimes the pic was an excuse to stand in the shade, lol.”

I didn't get a chance to go far but, I can tell this place has a lot to offer as far as scenery. I turned back because I was on foot and there are alligator warnings all over. I heard a big splash an was like nope! I will return on bike however. This is a long trail so a bike would actually be recommend.

Very cool place to view Central Florida nature in its natural habitat. There are dozens of trails that are miles and miles long. This would be one of the best mountain biking trails in all of Central Florida. It is definitely excellent for hiking, too. I was impressed with how many gator trail marks we saw...

Had a nice six mile hike. Plenty of creatures and nature. More than enough room on paths for bikes and hikers. Nice sturdy look out towers. The maps are mostly accurate, one tower is on the opposite side of the file from what the map shows. Some trails are mostly grass, so you may get wet feet.

Team Powers favorite local bike riding/ hiking to escape the crowds. Love pedaling with my favorite locals! The GATORS!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
