Confirmed from Colorado Trail Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Colorado Trail Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (130 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 3 mentions

“However, there's a very clean outhouse (seriously, very clean), good parking, and the trail is easy to follow.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 9 mentions

“But after 3rd section, can’t believe the trail take you deep into forest and it’s gorgeous and campsites are wonderful as well.”

Being a hiker and trekker in Himalaya, this was my first experience backpacking in the US. I did section hike of CT from 1-6 in 8 days, we completed more than 100 miles. 1st, 2nd section wasn’t fun coz I literally have to walk on road for 6 miles and eventually on trail but so dry and no water for 10 miles.

Beautiful trail to hike on, surrounded by nature. Although I hear the water used to be higher. Great place for plant macros!

#freedom500hike 2020 😅 ONE OF MY BEST DECISIONS I'VE EVER MADE ❤️ I decided to hike the majority of the Colorado trail during the summer of 2020 despite lots of physical disabilities and mental challenges but it ended up (more than I could even imagine) helping myself and other folks with PTSD (including mostly…

I really like this portion of the trail for an easier walk, and especially to take my dog. Nice parking lot and bathrooms! My 4 stars is because so many people are leaving their dog's waste on the trail just feet from the garbage can and FREE poop bags.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
