Confirmed from Cooper Mountain Nature Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Scenic 230-acre park overlooking the river with multiple habitats, hiking trails & nature programs.
What runners say about Cooper Mountain Nature Park
“The trails are well-maintained, and we love that there are three different routes to choose from: Little Prairie Loop, Cooper Mountain Loop, and Larkspur Loop.”
“Well maintained trails with sitting areas scattered throughout, variety of open spaces and wooded areas, very scenic.”
The park is free, it has a playground for kids. There are public restroom and it is clean. The parking lot is big enough for about 20 cars. It is not a dog welcome park. Dog are not allow. The parking lot, playground and restroom are literally right next by each other.
Good spot to walk/run. Has multiple different loops you can do with over 3.5 total miles of trails. The way out is downhill and the way back is steep uphill so prepare for some elevation gain. There are great views too and a loop you can take if you don't want to do as much uphill.
PLEASE NO DOGS!!! Beautiful park. Feels more secluded than it actually is. Perfect for kids and older folks. Gorgeous views toward Sherwood and the Chehalem Mountains. Unique terrain with mix of wooded areas and oak groves. Kinda reminds me of the Bend area in Central Oregon.
Cooper Mountain Nature Park is a great spot for getting outdoors and enjoying some fresh air. The trails are well-maintained, and we love that there are three different routes to choose from: Little Prairie Loop, Cooper Mountain Loop, and Larkspur Loop. We took about an hour and a half to complete a 3.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
