Confirmed from Coventry Woods Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🌾 quiet & peaceful 8 mentions

“It's definitely a good option for anyone looking for a peaceful hike with a bit of adventure!”

My family loves walking the trails of the Coventry Woods. It is always quiet and serene. This is a Red Spotted Newt that was on one of the trails.

While I haven't done the 5k/10k Racing Series here, I have run through these woods a fair number of times. The trails are packed-down dirt, and they're all kept clear of branches. Most have a lot of foliage above, so it can definitely be a good place to beat the heat.

A really nice hidden gem in the northern part of the county. Has lots of trails through a fairly old and tall forest. Some up and downs, but too much to handle; walking sticks are not necessary. This time of year we did not see very many animals, but I am sure that it will full of birds come spring.

If you're into birds, butterflies, dragonflys and frogs then this is the place to go. We've seen a scarlet tanager, cedar waxwings, ovenbirds and a whole bunch of warblers a few months ago when we went. They have a list of all birds spotted there which is awesome.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
