Confirmed from Crego Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Nice little park with the paved Lansing river trail going through it. Very peaceful and quiet walk. Gorgeous at sunset. Two parking locations on either side of park. Cool spot to take a walk in nature.

Update: Stopped by today and the area was alive with people on the water, walking and running, sitting and calmness. And the fish were swimming. This hidden little gem is along the River Trail off of Mount Hope Rd. Quiet and tucked away. Great for walking along the trail. A couple of docks to fish from.

Nice little park. Never crowded. Fishing, boating and relaxing. Connects to Lansing River trail

★★★★☆ — Dave , Aug 2025

Calm, peaceful and kind of tucked away in a beautiful wooded area. I almost don't want to post a review, because it wasn't over crowded like most lakes are right now! Lots of folx canoeing and paddle boarding; there's a launch dock for canoes as well.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
  • At the trailheadparking — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
