Confirmed from Crocker Gate Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Crocker Gate Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (199 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 10 mentions

“Beautiful scenery and there are more primitive paths to explore another day!”

🏃 great for running 3 mentions

“This entrance is great for an easy and short run or hike at San Bruno Mountain State Park.”

Plenty of parking available even on a Saturday. First part of trail is paved all the way to the main parking lot, which requires a $6 entrance fee. All other trails are dirt. Can be windy and foggy, dress accordingly. Great views in every direction from the top!

We hiked from this Trailhead to the park. It was an awesome hiking and we were surprised to find an open park where we could sit and meditate. The weather was so great that day unlike the usual for Daly city.

This entrance is great for an easy and short run or hike at San Bruno Mountain State Park. You can go straight on Old Guadalupe Trail, which is paved and flat, all the way to main entrance. Or you can choose Saddle Loop Trail, which has a little dirt but well maintained, to go up the hill.

★★★★★ — Wing , Aug 2023

Beautiful place, I love it especially the entrance is fairy tail. There are a lot of trails and pretty good view of the city, the only downfall would be no dogs.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 19 mentions

“Parking on the street from which you can walk onto a hiking trail that opens up to fantastic views of San Francisco.”
