Confirmed from Summit Loop Trail, San Bruno Mountain's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Summit Loop Trail, San Bruno Mountain
We went after a light rain and counted no fewer than 207 banana slugs on the summit loop trail! Very doable trail, about 2 hours if you don’t stop for breaks. Not too steep, easy footholds throughout.
The trail is about 3 miles and has about 1000ft of elevation gain. The sign says it's a hard trail. There's is a lot of uphill which makes it hard. I would say it's more intermediate if you have time, because it will take some time to walk all the way to the top.
