Confirmed from Deep Lock Quarry Metro Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Deep Lock Quarry Metro Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (521 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 6 mentions

“It can be crowded at times, due to it being so beautiful and educational.”

🌳 shaded & cool 3 mentions

“This was a really great quick hike for the family, very woodsy and shaded, but definitely lined with poison ivy so watch out!”

Nice 1.4 mile trail, they offer an unpaved trail to the quarry, and they do a have paved trail that does connect to the towpath and bike trail. It's not a difficult trekking path, although it does have a couple of good 25 grades inclines. Definitely wear a good pair of hikers or trek sandals and grab your poles.

★★★★☆ — Nula , Jun 2023

Parking is ample, there is a restroom. The trails are marked to the quarry, trek through great shade most of the time. The paths are rocky and coated with moss so be careful with footing. Overall very nice side shoot from the towpath lock 69.

★★★★☆ — Mr. , Jun 2023

By far one of my favorite parks in Summit county. It can be crowded at times, due to it being so beautiful and educational. My recommendation would be to hike at an earlier time mid-week, if you prefer less people around.

★★★★★ — Kasandra , Oct 2023

This was my 1st look at these trails. Many different side trails makes this a wonderful area for short excursions or a day of exploring. There are interesting historic artifacts from the early industries that made use of the quarries and canal. I will be back soon!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 8 mentions

“There is also a really cool quarry about midway through and you can take a trail to the top which offers a cool view of the area below.”
