We have not been able to confirm the surface, distance or shape of Lock 29 Trailhead yet from its own listing, the park's website or runner reviews — so those cells stay blank rather than guess. What is below comes straight from the listing and from reviewers' own words. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 8 mentions

“A coffee shop, local restaurants like Fisher's and the Winking Lizard, art galleries, gift shops, bicycle rentals, a train stop for the scenic railroad, and more.”

One of the better spots to stretch your legs and get a stroll in on the historic towpath. Bike traffic was heavy on a Sunday afternoon in September but still an enjoyable walk.

This is a great section of the towpath & it's conveniently by one of the stops for the CVNP railroad. You can head south & you'll end up at Deep Lock quarry or head north & you'll end up at Station Road Bridge. Either way the views are magnificent.

Beautiful doesn't say enough about this place. Nice ramp to launch you paddle craft. Was just built. You can ride the train here. You can play in the white water here. There is just so much to do. There are hiking trails and bicycle trails, an old boat lock. Don't miss this place. I have fallen in love with it.

Great low key trail. Hike for 15 minutes or 3 hours. Up to you. Recommend bringing a bathing suit in warm weather as there are several swimming holes at the riverbank. Also nice history of the canal and locks. Parking can be challenged but there is an overflow lot down the block. Peninsula is a cute town.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
