Confirmed from Demarest Kill County Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Beautiful little park with nice trails for walking. There is a small lake with benches around it. It is a very peaceful and serene place.

it was a totally fun hike and I jumped in the reservoir which you’re not supposed to do at the end -evidently there’s two reservoirs. I did the first one, the second one is supposedly much more private (if you can find it) but hundred dollar fine hundred dollar fine if you’re caught

Nice little spot to take a stroll. Plus a tiny little hiking path in the woods. Many people go with pets. Be careful though not to step into land fowl excrement.

Nice little neatly kept park off New Hempstead in Rockland county. A popular dog walk with a geese pond and private benches.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 6 mentions

“Great lake views and all sorts of animals running around.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
  • Stroller / wheelchairReported as smooth and step-free enough for a running stroller or a chair.
