Confirmed from Devil's Doorway Loop Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Devil's Doorway Loop Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (39 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 4 mentions

“That said, it was beautiful and reminded me of hikes I've done in Colorado.”

Very nice trail to go. It is rocky and rocks are rather slippery, so prepare for it.

★★★★★ — Lee , Nov 2021

Awesome hiking trail. If you start here, prepare for a gnarly accent up a boulder field but you’ll be rewarded with astounding views and a sense of accomplishment. The rocks can get covered in dirt, sand and leaves and become slippery at times so watch your step.

★★★★★ — Joshua , Nov 2021

Recommended as number one trail in Wisconsin. It's $16 for a parking pass for the day. We bought it at the kiosk because there was no one attending the ranger building. We had hiked another state park nearby and it was only $11. Not sure about the price difference.

This is my preferred trailhead to start from for the east bluff as i would rather do one of the three stairfull paths at the start then the end. You have the option of going with balancing rock, the most direct has the most stairs, and the famous rock gormy; potholes which is a little detour, has a bit less stairs,…

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
