Confirmed from East Bluff State Natural Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“Ok for all levels of hiker and climber!”

Some of the best hiking in Wisconsin. Can get pretty busy on the weekends during the summer. Amazing rock formations.

Lots of trails, a ton of steps. However, the view makes it all worthwhile! Bring water. Personally, I underestimated the elevation climb and how steep it was. I'd call it the devils doorsteps at least the path to the top. Check out the climbing club.

We went there in the end of March and it was very cold but absolutely worth it! This was my first time in this area and I have to say the hike was absolutely amazing! The trails are well-marked and there is plenty of parking space . There is $16 fee to enter the park.

Usually hike Devils Lake area a dozen times or more a year in preparation for climbing in Colorado. Pretty decent ascents up the East and West bluffs with some bouldering should you want to take a more direct route up.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🏞️ Scenic views 16 mentions

“One of the best parts of the park - while the trails lining the lake and it's overlooks are packed, these trails are usually sparsely traveled.”
