Confirmed from South Bluff / Devil's Nose State Natural Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Nature preserve offering a trail and climbing opportunities.
What runners say about South Bluff / Devil's Nose State Natural Area
“One of the most stunning areas of the state.”
Wow nice so far. Price is high for single out of state hiker 16.00 but it is beautiful
If you want to go off trail, the South Bluff will reward you with some amazing views of Devils Lake, the parks west, east and north bluffs.
South Bluff is an secluded off- trail area, best to access from rr tracks in fall and spring, worth it for the views to those experienced with DL!
Ice Age Trail is nice - meadow, forest, bluffs. Long way back though. That's all I've tried on this side.
Trail conditions & character
“While a good portion of the prairie that lies adjacent to the bluffs may be off-limits, the view of the bluffs may be enjoyed from the Great Sauk Trail.”
