Confirmed from Dias’ Hike's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Dias’ Hike
“We enjoyed a pleasant hike offering stunning views.”
This trail got me to the secret swing. It’s the Douglas Trail but this is the trailhead? 15 min walk. Pretty easy. Both incline and decline. Great ocean views. Enjoy
Please please please wear a mask if you’re planning on doing this hike!!!! It’s really narrow and impossible to socially distance. I went with my elderly mother and felt very anxious walking by multiple groups of unmasked hikers. People who are at higher risk of COVID also want to be able to enjoy the outdoors...
Nice hike on the side of the hill. Entrance somewhat tricky, in the neighborhood in the empty field
Underrated hike in LA. Great views of the beach and LA, not very busy. Mostly easy except for a few slippery slopes.
Trail conditions & character

“The beginning of the trail is pretty steep going down and will be a bit muddy if it's rained recently.”

The practical stuff
- AccessHours vary — hours are not posted for this trail, so check before an early or late run
- SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
