Confirmed from Dougherty Nature Trail Extension's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Dougherty Nature Trail Extension

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (76 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 5 mentions

“A peaceful place to walk and relax along Pine Creek past the beautiful gardens at the entrance and Fugh Hall.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 8 mentions

“It was a really nice Trail to walk on quiet peaceful nice views just really relaxing that was my first time on that trail”

The Dougherty Nature Trail Extension is a beautiful place to walk, explore, and relax. This trail is NOT a place to get your run in or experience a hike because it is basically a municipal park that happens to contain two rivers, a long walkable bank, and the opportunity to explore some PA fauna up close.

★★★★☆ — Nada , Jul 2020

It's a relatively small trail right beside a baseball field with 2 fields. Before you get on the trail there are bags to pick up after your pets and wastebaskets throughout. Please pick up after your pets. While on the trail their are benches along the trail that runs right along Pine Creek.

This trail is a mixture of scenery. The trail is in between a sports field and a beautiful creek. I enjoyed this 12 minute loop, walked a few times just to get my daily steps in.

★★★★★ — B , Apr 2020

A really nice path that parallels the creak behind the baseball field. Very quiet and peaceful. Usually you'll run into people walking their dogs.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
