Confirmed from Downing Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Family-friendly outdoor space with a playground and softball field, plus baseball fields.
What runners say about Downing Park
“Softball field well maintained by Yorktown Park and Rec.”
This is a gem among the local parks in Yorktown Heights. It has a great playground for kids, a picnic area/pavilion (permit required), long walking/running trails among the trees providing shade for the visitors, a workout court. The parking spaces may be hard to find at the time of group gatherings and celebrations.
I have been coming here for years. It is a wonderful Park. The paths are good for walking. It's also nice to sit under one of many trees and read or just chill out. The restrooms are super clean. There is a wonderful playground that is constantly being used. And so much more.
Great trails. Love the jungle gym setup. Especially pull up bars. Anyone know of other pull up bar set ups in the area?
For baseball field enter one of the parking lots via entrance on Crompond (at Old Yorktown Rd). Will see tennis courts and off to the left a pathway to walking bridge for field access on third baseline. Plenty of shade for spectators with lawn chairs or stadium seats on bleachers (set further back). No outfield fencing
