Confirmed from Eagle Slough Natural Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“The gravel trail makes for easy walking.”

A nice flat, short trail through the woods and wetlands. It was a nice walk and ended at an overlook looking out over the water.

Lovely walk. The trees were dense and it really gave you a feeling of solitude that I enjoyed. The view is nice. Not a long walk but a great way to spend a morning. It was a good find during my visit to the area. The drawback was that every time I went, there were people in the parking lot.

★★★★☆ — Shellie , Sep 2020

Peaceful. A nice walk to the back. If it's somewhere between spring and fall be sure to put on some mosquito spray. Beware of the poison ivy. I did not venture to see if I could find any poison oak or sumac.

★★★★★ — Jason , Jun 2024

Eagle Slough provides a nice short hike close to town that provides wildlife viewing you would usually have to travel for. The gravel trail makes for easy walking. If you are quiet and look close it is full of wildlife. I've observed everything from otters to bald eagles here.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
