Confirmed from Eagle's Nest Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Easy to moderate trail for hiking with scenic views.
What runners say about Eagle's Nest Trail
“Despite the short 250' or so steep start this is a beautiful loop.”
“Not a lot of shade up there like the other trails.”
“Lovely easy hike, wonderful specially in winter, you get an amazing view of all the mountains around.”
I loved this hike. Has a steep incline at the beginning but the rest isn't bad. It got super hot towards the end. Bring plenty of water!! My older pup quit towards the end so I had to carry him. I'd say this is an easy to moderate hike for someone that doesn't hike often. The views are spectacular.
Great place to get away from the heat and hike a beautiful trail. The fall colors were great to see.
Beautiful, rather easy hike of Mt. Charleston. It starts with a short distance incline with some of the most astounding sites of the mountain and valley below. I would definitely recommend going during winter to see it snow covered.
Really beautiful hike! We are trying to do this loop every weekend if we have the chance. It is a pretty easy to moderate hike, I would say. During the warmer months of the year, the bugs and bushes can get a bit annoying while you hike, but other than that, this is a great hike.
Trail conditions & character
“Nice views, and it levels out after the initial climb up to the loop so it's somewhere between easy to easy/medium overall.”
