Confirmed from Ebenezer Swamp Ecological Preserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Nature preserve with a boardwalk through a swamp featuring plants, wildlife, and educational placards.
What runners say about Ebenezer Swamp Ecological Preserve
“Great place to visit a swamp while staying clean and dry on the boardwalk.”
“Short walk thru scenic swamp forest along a boardwalk.”
“However, the park is still more than quiet enough for visitors to enjoy the natural sounds and spectacular beauty of this watery ecosystem.”
“Restrooms were not open which was disappointing but it was a nice easy walk thru the swamp.”
Very nice walking trail. They have a lot of things to read as you walk. We learned about swaps, animal takes, and some of they planted that where out there as well. Just very nice and peaceful
Great place to visit a swamp while staying clean and dry on the boardwalk. We saw lots of animals from Canadian Geese to an Otter swiming right below us next to the boardwalk. We took our two border collies with us and they also had a great time. Very nice to have restrooms at the start of the trails.
Nice raised walk through wetlands with opportunity to view birds, bugs and fauna. It is reasonably well maintained. Parking seems a little tenuous, but the low traffic in the area may make it safe to park on the adjacent dirt road.
This is a great place for birds! Prothonotary Warblers nest here. This was one the the first places people saw a Limpkin in north Alabama. It’s a wonderful location. The boardwalks make walking through a swamp possible and accessible. It really is a good place to visit.
