Confirmed from EBMUD Valle Vista Staging Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Hiking area with well-maintained trails, redwoods, and views of the reservoir.
What runners say about EBMUD Valle Vista Staging Area
“All EBMUD trails and watersheds are well maintained and relatively inexpensive, plus they provide some of the best tasting water in all of California.”
“Gorgeous reservoir views the whole way on King Canyon loop trail”
My friends an ornithologist and he loves this spot. Such a high diversity and number of birds. Super nice hiking or walks, and great to see all the nature around the water. You do need an ebmud permit!
i hike the king canyon trail, rimer creek trail and redwood trail very often! love the variety of scenery and being able to see water or venture into the redwoods! parking is great and they have a restroom as well!
Beautiful place, well marked trails, gorgeous views. Roads are very twisty so use caution, and also there is very limited cell reception so make sure you remember the last couple of turns so you can leave without getting lost. Don't forget to acquire a permit before going. They check regularly.
You need a ebmud permit. Nobody checked though during our hike though. We took the kings canyon loop trail. We started hiking from the lake side. The trail is partly shaded and partly open. On a hot day, the hike may get hot. I was hiking in mid September and i did encounter a bit of flies and mosquitoes on the way.
