Confirmed from Elkhorn Slough Reserve's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

“Very nice Slough, not crowded and easy trails.”

Great place to hike! There are a couple of different trails with different sights and animals. See the park's website for the different sights. We did the South Marsh Loop Trail and highly recommend it! We did it clockwise and stopped by Hummingbird Island.

What an incredibly wonderful secret, hidden in plain sight. I’ve loved four miles away from the Elkhorn Slough Reserve for over fifty years and have never stepped foot inside. Why did I wait? Why did I waste so many precious years not enjoying the beauty and serenity? I’ll never know.

A quaint place and definitely hidden gem. Walking trails are fairly easy and the views are great! Staff was friendly and the park is fairly clean. Lots of wildlife and not a lot of people (just the way we like it 😊)

Nice place for family hike. Short 3 mile easy loop trail with lot of vista points. Benches on trail to relax and bird watching.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
