Confirmed from Englewood MetroPark's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

Update: May 2, little blue heron Update: April 29, 2026. Sandpipers, green heron and more Update: Mar 12,2026 I was lucky enough to get clear pictures of a red shouldered hawk carrying the bottom half of a frog! Englewood MetroPark is a hidden gem for nature and wildlife enthusiasts!

One of the many parks around Aullwood Garden. A nice walk along the river that leads to a very beautiful and neat garden that is cross the street. Parking lot close to the river and to those who love kayaking there’s a small ramp to drop kayak into the river.

Englewood Reserve: A Hidden Gem for Nature Lovers Nestled just outside Dayton, Englewood Reserve (4361 W National Rd, Dayton, OH 45414) is a breathtaking escape into nature.

★★★★★ — Story , Mar 2025

The road through the park is one way with a walking path on the side. Even if the forest paths are snow covered and icy in the winter, one can walk along the road and feel safe. The waterfalls are interesting in the winter as they have many icicles.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceMixed — more than one surface along the route, so check the segment you plan to run
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms, water — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
