Confirmed from Erratic Rock State Natural Site's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park with a paved trail through vineyards leading to a rock formation with valley views.
What runners say about Erratic Rock State Natural Site
“A beautiful way to greet the morning sunrise.”
Interesting geological history. Hill up to the displaced 90 ton rock gets your heart pumping. Fun to see the goats in an adjacent pasture. Google the Erratic Rock for all of the pertinent information
A couple of Sundays ago I took my dog Sophie out for a little hike to Glacial Erratic Rock near McMinnville, Oregon, Now I have been here before myself but this would be Sophie's first time and she has such a high level of energy that I thought it would be good for her.
Stumbled across this spot thanks to Geocaching. It was a great stop to stretch our legs on the way home from the coast. A bit steep but an enjoyable walk, there are ducks, geese, and sheep to see and blackberries and apples to pick along the way. Good views of the valley from the top!
Interesting geological piece, but nothing extraordinary. Easy to find, access, and exit. Handicapped accessible; paved, but steep for 100 yards or so. 5-10 minute walk to the top. No facilities. Parking is roadside with room for 2-3 vehicles.
