Confirmed from Estabrook Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Estabrook Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (1,153 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 7 mentions

“The river trail is so beautiful and rustic, not difficult, but not easy.”

I love visiting Estabrook and I go here often. Generally I am on the hiking trail as I Iove traveling along the river to get to where I am going. Its a great shortcut to get to Silver Spring Drive or even farther north - of course I don't mind hiking many miles so I may not be the average person who tends to drive…

The river trail is so beautiful and rustic, not difficult, but not easy. A great exercise that doesn't feel like one because of the continually changing landscape and beautiful scenery. There's also a paved walkway for those who want a easier route.

I really enjoy Estabrook Park. It's an extremely diverse park. With baseball diamonds, the Oak Leaf Trail, frisbee golf, wild raspberries, and the river you can really stay here all day. The dog park is great, with an adjacent fenced area for small dogs. That really adds to the park as a whole.

Another cool park in MKE. Lots of wide open space to play plus a nice walking trail along the river. And of course, the get garden over here is one of my favorites.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

🐕 Dog-friendly 11 mentions

“A dog park, the fun beet garden with weekly live music, the river with access to fishing, great starter disc golf course, plenty of spaces for sports, playground etc.”

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
