Confirmed from Evangola State Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Evangola State Park

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (1,728 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

well-maintained 9 mentions

“This is a lovely campground with clean bathrooms, showers, a sink to do your dishes, a nature center with cool specimens and activities for the kids.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 12 mentions

“Although the park attendance is way down from those days, it’s still a beautiful place to spend the day on the water.”

🌾 quiet & peaceful 8 mentions

“The crowd you get here are not big partiers or anything so it was nice and quiet with actual quiet hours from 10-8, which people respected.”

This state park reminds me of a forgotten gem from a bygone era. Many years ago the beaches were packed with city dwellers every summer weekend. Although the park attendance is way down from those days, it’s still a beautiful place to spend the day on the water.

We went camping here in July. They have a Nature Center here which was really great for the kids and perfect for if the weather isn't great. They have a reading area with lots of books about animals and lots of other things about animals that was very hands on.

Wonderful. But beware of annoying dog owners with long leads on their dogs who think it's okay to have their dog run up to you and circle you even though there are signs posted not to do this, but their dog is very special 🙄 They also don't pick up their dog's poo or leave it in the plastic bag on the beach.

What a beautiful view of the lake. We camped at one of the Yurts at the campgrounds. The kids (age 7 and 3) love the playgrounds and walking along the beach. We came end of August so it was cooler. We walked from the campsites to the beach which is a short walk past the campground check in building.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • SurfaceNatural surface — easiest on the joints and the most fun, but expect roots, rocks and mud after rain
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
  • DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
