Confirmed from Farmington Creek Waterfall Trailhead's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Farmington Creek Waterfall Trailhead

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (137 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

🏞️ beautiful scenery 11 mentions

“Those who challenge it will see gorgeous scenery for every step of the way, as well as feel the genuine burning sensation of a successful cardio workout by the end of it.”

🌳 shaded & cool 4 mentions

“It also has spots of overgrowth above which is a nice shady reprieve from the relentless sun.”

Update: a new path has been created to get to the base of the falls. I didn't see it until I was heading back up, but I marked it with a metal brace (pictured, looks kind of like an F) and there's also some balanced stones nearby. So much easier go go down this way especially when it's muddy! Gorgeous hike.

Great little hike to a beautiful falls. As of July 8, 2023 the falls are roaring and not easy to play in. Beautiful and refreshing nonetheless. The hike is moderately steep, 840 feet in 1.5 miles, enough to make a weekend warrior breathe heavily.

★★★★★ — Tyler , Jul 2023

We made it, took about an hour and half with my 4 year old. Great hike for beginners to moderate skill levels. Narrow path with great views. Sudden drop offs and steep slopes present so, watch the little ones. And bring some gloves to climb down to the water fall, not much room to relax when you get down there either.

★★★★★ — L , Jun 2019

Great hike plenty of shade. There is a repel to the waterfall which is running extremely fast and it's very slippery as you descend to the falls. 3 old vehicles along the trail. Plenty of people but at times you do feel alone on the path.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
