Confirmed from Folsom Lake State Recreation Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

well-maintained 5 mentions

“Go outside and have some fun, but please clean after yourself and help preserve this place to others.”

🏞️ beautiful scenery 9 mentions

“This was a beautiful hike with a well-paved trail and great views.”

Excellent place to go for a walk, a run, or a bike ride. The amount of trails and beauty around is endless. The lake view is gorgeous. All the native plants and flowers were unbelievable. We just went on a bike ride in mid-April, and all the flowers blooming were incredible to see.

★★★★★ — Jeff , May 2023

We walked along the Johnny Cash Trail. The scenery is beautiful. There are some steep hills and curves along the way but the trail is paved and well maintained. The trail we walked is almost 3 miles (one way).

★★★★☆ — Tina , May 2026

This was a beautiful hike with a well-paved trail and great views. It started off flat but then picked up a little with the hills, which was a good thing to me.

★★★★★ — Teacher , Mar 2026

Awesome trails and places to swim, gotta explore a bit to find the good beaches

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
