Confirmed from Browns Ravine Recreation Area's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Browns Ravine Recreation Area
“Totoro down your window I Friday and Saturday were absolutely gorgeous out brown Ravine always have the best of times recap safety and mine distance and still had a good time”
Great place to visit Folsom lake. Be aware this place can get VERY crowded. I do advise coming early if it is summer. Lots of picnic tables with BBQ areas. Great boat launch with lots of parking. Plenty of places to go down to the water and swim or let your dog play. Whatever you like.
Great park. There is a marina, a paved road, lots of dirt trails with view of the lake and meadows. The trails are open to horses, dogs, and mountain bikes. The biggest downside are the forests of poison oak. In many places, it goes right to the trail, so it is difficult to get by without touching it.
Beautiful place for a hike. We walked up & around to the left of the boat launch. Even tough there were lots of people we really only passed 2 on the trail.we will definitely go back.
Best place for boats and jet skis. Costs money or pass to get in via car, free via trails, extra charge for boats. There’s restrooms and a water fountain. 2 boat launch area, usually only one available. Snakes are in the area and I’ve seen one while mtb so be careful.

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- At the trailheadparking, water — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
