Confirmed from Fontenelle Forest Wetlands | Formerly Gilbert M. and Martha H. Hitchcock Learning Center's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Fontenelle Forest Wetlands | Formerly Gilbert M. and Martha H. Hitchcock Learning Center
“The majority of the walk is on a boardwalk surrounded by beautiful trees, leading to a stunning lookout structure over the water.”
Really nice trails with a variety of different directions to explore! Close to the river and wetlands. The trails are mostly flat so great for walking and beginners! There is a wooden path that goes to the lookout tower, but otherwise dirt trails. Definitely will be back to explore in other seasons!
The Wetland Area at Fontenelle Forest Property is a hidden gem, perfect for a family-friendly nature walk. Our family calls this The Marsh! This trail is just under a mile and offers three paths: the Gifford Memorial Boardwalk, Marsh, and Pond trails.
Beautiful, quiet, and good route to go for a run or a walk. Plus it's free and open till 10 PM.
