Confirmed from Foothills Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
What runners say about Foothills Trail
A very nice wide paved trail to walk or bike... but don't follow the google directions to get there. It'll take you to a place where there is no place to park and no access to the trail. You will need to google "Linda Campbell Memorial Bench" and you will find a place to park.
A 20+ mile long paved path that runs between the towns of Puyallup and Buckley, Washington. It passes thru or near many small towns along it's length. A short section is still under construction as of the fall of 2017 between South Prairie and Buckley. Scheduled completion is in late 2017.
What an awesome bike trail, it could be one of my favorites of all time. The scenery is outstanding and there is tons of shade. We went from Buckley to South Prairie, it was only about 12 miles round trip but we can not wait to do more sections of this terrific trail.
This is a great section of public trail that runs from Puyallup all the way to Buckley. Perfect for all kinds of recreational activities including running, biking, walking and rollerblading. Trailheads with basic parking and toilets are located every six or seven miles.
Trail conditions & character
“Very nice with paved trail and bridges over South Prairie Creek as it switched back and forth from one side of the trail to the other.”
“Very nice, natural setting for walking, riding your bike, walking your dog, etc.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
