We really like Fort Clinch, we camped on the beach loop. It’s a short walk to the beach across a short bridge. The beach has lots of treasures to collect including shark teeth. The fort charges to walk through, even for campers. It’s a big park, it takes almost 10 minutes to drive from the entrance to the camp sites.
On our visit to Amelia Island, Florida ,Fort Clinch State Park is a must see. This fort is beautifully preserved and gives a fascinating glimpse of the military history, soldiers quarters , brick tunnels, cannons. It also is surrounded by a stunning beach and shaded trails for walking perfect for hiking.
Fort Clinch State Park is great for camping! The sites are in great repair, and are a short walk to the body of water. You can fish there all year! There is also a bathroom/bathhouse that are kept clean by the staff. (There is also cell phone signal if you are worried about that.)
Wow! Took me back in time! The history! The views! Was truly a nice place to peacefully walk around and get a glimpse of the time period. The views from the top area towards the beach are amazing and the admission is very reasonable!!
