Confirmed from Fort Island / Griffiths Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

🌾 quiet & peaceful 6 mentions

“It features peaceful green spaces, a small creek, and spots that are perfect for family outings or simply relaxing in nature.”

Spectacular park providing important services to the surrounding community. It has tennis/basketball courts, full-size playground, shaded seating, restrooms, water fountains, and plenty of walking trails. It is essential for water drainage, and acts as a buffer next to the highway.

I really love this park. My mom found it for me and my daughter. My daughter is on the spectrum and she can be a little accident prone or clumsy but she always stays stimulated when we're there.

★★★★★ — Heather , May 2025

Fort Island Park is a clean, safe park with some great amenities. The nature center is really cool and has a lot of fun, free programs for kids. There are four tennis courts, two basketball courts, a small field to play in, and a long hiking path that goes into the woods and through a swampy area on a wooden walkway…

A great park! The playground area is fenced and the equipment is varied. Lots to climb and several slides for kids to use. The hiking trails are gorgeous, all planked boardwalks along a creek. Lots of history to read about along the way!

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.
