Confirmed from Freedom Florence Recreation Park's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.
Park featuring baseball and softball fields as well as batting cages, plus soccer and football fields.
What runners say about Freedom Florence Recreation Park
“Very large area with well maintained fields.”
“The lake area it's beautiful, great place to walk your dog”
“Great place to walk with lots of trails in the shade.”
Lake was very difficult to access by handicap visitors. Parking lot was far from access points, terrain was difficult to maneuver. Disappointing that our whole family couldn’t enjoy the area as day at the lake. Visiting area for family and this was the only park close with a lake we found.
Was a wonderful place to visit during COVID to get out of the house. Lots of walking that can be done (you can actually get lost if you go around the lake and head out to the stockade). Big pond. Batting cages. There's a little stage down by the water.
Lovely trail system around it - great spot for birding with a connection to the rail trail
Trail conditions & character
“Not enough parking for a large tournament, so we had to park in the grass even though there are signs saying not to.”

“Clean restrooms which is unusual they are not very clean at most places.”
“Great place to walk with lots of trails in the shade.”

The practical stuff
- AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
- SurfacePaved — asphalt or concrete. Fast and predictable, runnable year-round, and fine with a stroller
- DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
- ShadeRunners describe real tree cover here — it makes a summer afternoon workable
- LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
- At the trailheadparking, restrooms — reported by runners
- DogsWelcome, per reviewers. Leash rules vary by park — the trailhead sign is the authority.
