Confirmed from Fright Trail's own listing, the park or land manager's website, and runner reviews. Blank cells mean we could not verify that fact — we would rather say "not reported" than invent one. There is no Easy / Moderate / Hard rating on this page on purpose: a one-word difficulty score tells you nothing about whether a trail suits your run. Surface, distance, shade and hours do.

What runners say about Fright Trail

Pulled from public reviews of this trail (426 of them) — the things people bring up again and again, in their own words. Nothing here is written by us.

First thing, if you geaux on a weekend or the weekend before Halloween, expect the lines to be EXTREMELY long. I know some people complained about it not having enough actors, but I think it was fine. For me personally, just walking through the woods made it pretty cool.

Just wanted you to know we had a great time at fright trail. My 6 and 9 year old loved it! The light up necklaces made it to where the actors knew he was little. Everything was perfect and I loved that you let groups go by themselves instead of rushing it. The wait was definitely worth it. Great job !!! 👏

★★★★★ — Autumn , Oct 2024

So much fun. Some really great costumes and actors giving it their all. Its got the creepy factor, jump scares, character actors, animatronics, and over 40 minutes of dark wood paths with themed zones. If you like Halloween and being scared,,,, you gotta check it out.

★★★★★ — Russell , Oct 2025

Need more actors. The trail was nice and long but you need more actors in place. We had fun though.

Trail conditions & character

What this trail is actually like underfoot and overhead, taken from its own listing and from reviews. Each one links to every other trail with the same character. Busy or quiet is reported as a plain fact, not a plus or a minus — a runner heading out alone at dawn often wants company on the path, and someone running intervals wants an empty one.

The practical stuff

  • AccessPosted hours — posted hours below; park gates sometimes close earlier than the listing says
  • DistanceNot reported. Trail systems often quote total path mileage rather than a single loop, so measure the route you actually want before you drive out.
  • ShadeNot reported. Assume some of it is exposed and carry water in summer.
  • LightingRunners report lights on the path — useful for pre-dawn and after-work miles. Lighting and opening hours are separate things, so check both.
